FIRST IMPRESSIONS? THINK TWICE!!!

As humans,we have a natural tendency and almost a habit of sub-consciously judging people based on their physical appearance, demeanor, way of talking, choice of music, etc. The judgement being based on one or maybe everything that is visible to the eyes and reaches the brain.

But the truth is-There is more than that meets the eye.It takes more than just a mere first impression to know about somebody and form a just opinion thereon about their nature.

Many times,we come forward situations that make us realize that first impressions often get us mistaken. We may now be best friends with someone who seemed too unfriendly, grumpy or cold in the first instance. We may have found ourselves falling in love with somebody whom we found utterly arrogant,self-obsessed,”too loud” or “too plain” for our liking in the beginning.

We tend to make our own assumptions and conclusions about the nature, lifestyle and even the background of a person at the first instance based on material things like the kind and brand of clothes they have worn, the accent in which they speak, the pitch and tone of their voices, their physical features and a million other things .And this phenomena, as we all know is  called”STEREOTYPING

However,we can’t ignore the fact that one cannot look into a person’s soul and feel the purity of their hearts the moment they see someone. It is indeed true that,it is the first impression that makes an impact,it is the first impression that makes us realize whether we want to know somebody more or not.

But the point is,WHY SHOULD WE JUDGE ANYBODY,ANYWAY?

Why can’t we simply have a mere opinion and not a decision?

Stereotyping or making a fixed opinion about someone based on one thing or the other,is consciously or unconsciously done by almost everyone. It’s in our nature,It is a part of our life,It is something we just can’t seem to take out of our systems. We just can’t seem to help it.

In my opinion, first impression is ADEQUATE,but not enough. For making a judgement about somebody,if you have to,at least take a second impression,or maybe  a third!!There is no need to close the doors of your heart to someone just because theirs was not a good first impression-who knows you might have just missed one more person who could have been a beautiful addition to the list of people who you love.So next time you have a lingering first impression about somebody-Good or Bad-THINK TWICE.

Happy Living.

HAD A BAD DAY?TURN IT OVER RIGHT NOW!

“Cause you had a bad day

You’re taking one down

You sing a sad song just to turn it around

You say you don’t know

You tell me don’t lie

You work at a smile and you go for a ride

You had a bad day

You’ve seen what you like

And how does it feel for one more time

You had a bad day

You had a bad day”

-Lyrics from “Bad day” by Alvin & The Chipmunks

So it was one of “those days”…Right from the start of the day everything went wrong,You got late for work, you missed the bus,got stuck in traffic, you had a fight with somebody, your work didn’t get appreciated,etc.etc….it was like some evil had overshadowed your simply cheerful life,As if the world had come crumbling down on you,it was a crazy day when with or without a reason your mood was angry, upset or plain bad….Now what?

You had a bad day doesn’t mean that you can’t lift your mood now. Here are a few things I do when I have a really crazy day.I hope that these will help you end your day happily and you go off to sleep peacefully with a wide grin in your face no matter how bad a day you had.

1.DON’T FAKE IT

If you are feeling bad,you are. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a bad mood-it happens. The more you try to pretend that there is nothing wrong, the more miserable you feel inside.Don’t fake a smile when all that is in your head is bouts of anger.Instead, try making things better than pretending you are fine.

2.MEET A FRIEND YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IN A WHILE

Sometimes,we get so busy with our life that we don’t realise how long it has been since we met our friends.Meet or talk to a dear friend whom you haven’t spoken to one of these days. The thing with friends is that-they take you as you are and  share your moods too-even if it is mad.

3.TAKE A WALK

If you shrug and sit in a corner, your mood won’t be any better.Take a walk to the nearby park or a spot you like, spend sometime in the evening breeze, listlessly watch people passing by when you stroll on your own….It helps relieve those stressed nerves!

4.WATCH COMEDIES

Tickle your funny bone with a light hearted comedy and laugh out all the stress and mis happenings of the day.Invite friends over or enjoy your own company. It always helps to have a good laugh and when it’s a bad mood..even better!

5.TREAT YOURSELF WITH YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD

Go to your favourite restaurant or food joint and treat yourself your favourite food. For a foodie like me,having  food that I crave is heaven..it is an instant mood lifter.Try it and munch away your bad day.:)

6.LISTEN TO YOUR FAVOURITE TRACKS

They say-Music is  food for the soul.Whatever your taste in music, listening to your favourite numbers and humming or even shouting them along is one great way to turn around those effects of a bad day.

.

7.LET GO

Do whatever makes you feel good, there is no need to go crazy thinking “why does it always happens to me?” .The bad times come, they pass. There will be a new day,a new promise,a new hope tomorrow.Let go!!!

Happy Living.
